As the season is ready to start for real, FINALLY, I want to thank everyone for their efforts and patience so far. It has been a long pre-season and I am sure you al are as happy as I am to get out on a field and play some games.
With the schedules for both teams the way they are, it is going to be hectic and busy. On the schedule you will see that players should be at the field 1 hour before game time. This is important, please be on time and be in
uniform, cleats on, ready to warm up. This means arriving at the park at 5pm for the 6pm games, I know that can be a problem for some. If that is going to be an issue for your player, please let the coaches know.
IF YOU ARE NOT GOING TO BE AT THE GAME, IT IS CRITICAL THAT YOU LET THE COACH KNOW AHEAD OF TIME. There are cell phone numbers listed on the schedules for the coaches. Please make efforts to contact Brad (Varsity) or Steve (JV), if you cannot reach them try the other coaches listed. Having another player tell the coaches you are not going to be there doesn't work, as they often don't remember until they are asked. We have had numerous unannounced/unexcused absences during practice, and have been lenient, but I cannot stress to you how important this is for game planning.
NEWS FLASH: IT IS STILL COLD OUTSIDE!!!!!
Dress Warm! We are required to wear uniforms but players are allowed to wear coats or hoodies or whatever over the top of them. Playing in cold weather makes it easy to pull muscles and hurt arms, especially as often as we are going to be playing. So dress warm and in layers.
I am excited for both of our teams and ready to go, as are the girls. As always if you have any questions about anything, please do not hesitate to ask. Thanks again....PLAY BALL!!!!!!!

Dear Parents/Players,
Welcome to the 2008 softball season! We look forward to another successful season of games, as well as a chance to hone team building and leadership skills. Your Booster Club Board has been meeting since last Fall trying to learn the ropes and make the transition from old to new. Seeing that this is the first time for each of us to serve on the Board, we are keeping the process simple until we have more input from parents, like you. We encourage parents to give input, feedback and even support to the Booster Club. It takes more than a Board of four to be successful, but it does not require an intense time commitment. Please step forward to help out, whether you have had experience or not.
In order to continue supporting our softball teams financially, we are asking that each player raise $300.00. There are three options- Cookie dough & etc sales; Corporate Sponsors; or parent donations. Whichever option(s) your family chooses to utilize, we will respect. If your player raises more than $300.00, we will gratefully accept it. Thank you all in advance for your support. These are the only fundraisers we will be holding this season and would like to have them completed by April 22nd- before the teams hit the fields.
Coaches are seeking volunteer parents to help at practices. They would like to be able to work specifically with girls at practices and need the extra hands to help with the various practice areas so they have the time to move from player to player. The Booster Club is seeking parents willing to be a team parent point of contact. These individuals will work with the Board to help distribute information, help plan Senior Night and simply be the team parent so that the Board does not have to try and make it to every game all season long. With the likelihood of having three teams, that adds up to a lot of games.
Finally, we are asking that parents provide contact information so that we can make sure to get the information out directly to them. We realize that the girls all like to be kept in the loop, but have found that in years past the parents have not received important information. The girls have the best of intentions, but seldom deliver a sheet of paper or forward an e-mail to Mom and Dad. We would like you to know what is going on before the end of the season.
Thank you for your time and support of your player and the Lady Cougars. We look forward to seeing you all at the games.
Sincerely,
The Lady Cougars Booster Club
